Essays on oppression
•
To return to the spirit of an action and perform
it from/with/among what happens in the context.
Essays on oppression is a durational performance. In it I move slowly through the space, carrying a device formed by a bridle and leather blinkers tied to a stone. The route is repeated over and over again, reminding me of the image of an exhausted horse spinning endlessly around a horse mill, showing the persistence of oppression, the repetition of an apparently useless action and the alienation with the environment until a helping hand arrives to help.
