Afraid to speak

The Museo del Libro y de la Lengua de Buenos Aires invited me to make this performance -already realized in 2019- around the poem Hablar del miedo by Hilda Rais* Argentine poet present in the exhibition ARDER en lo ya ardiendo ardía curated by Andi Nachon and Juan Fernando García.

In this action, a rite of writing is opened to give voice or to make word that which tries to escape from the body. Faced with the repetition of the unsaid, the poetic gesture becomes language to give extension to what we are.

I begin by crossing the space carrying a ladder and a roll of paper. I climb the ladder to hang the paper and unfold its length on the floor. I draw a circle, set up the ritual space, write. I invite otres to write thinking how to open a gesture that crosses fear with the word.
